The DS-63 was used to pack two A4 pages and a busines reply envelope into a C5 envelope.
First and foremost, it saves us a lot of money.
Make- A-Wish produce a lot of mail which includes a very important fundraising campaign to potential and current donors. A direct mail piece is sent to 4,500 previous supporters asking them to support again,. The mailing was packed by hand by a large team of volunteers and could take up to full days to complete.
Irene Timmons, Head of Fundraising at Make-A-Wish realised that volunteers time would be better spent doing something more worthwhile for the charity, such as helping to raise money and therefore grant wishes, rather than stuffing envelopes. Irene asked Neopost if they could help.
It was decided the DS-63 folder inserter from Neopost, with all of it's inherent features and benefits, would be a good match for the requirements of Make-A-Wish and was duly installed.
Delivery and Results
Irene said, 'We are using a DS-63 folder inserter. We are going to use it to pack up to A4 pages and a business reply envelope into a C5 envelope. It's really easy to use. Basically you insert your documents into the feeder, press the green button and you're good to go. The great thing about it is that it actually provides you with a sample beforehand. So you know that everything is perfect and then off you go'.
When asked if the machine was faster than folding and inserting by hand Irene continue, 'There's no comparison. It's so much faster. On average it takes two hours to do a 4,500 letter mailing. In the past when we used volunteers, it would take up to two full days with a team of five volunteers packing. So there really is no comparison.
'First and foremost, it saves us a lot of money. Anyone who has done direct mail before knows that the fulfilment side of things is one of high expenses. You are at the mercy of external suppliers.
But with a machine like this you're in control. I also like the fact that it's compact, it's quite, it's really easy to use. You can load it up and just get on with you job,' concluded Irene.'
