On 26th February 2016, Royal Mail announced that it would be changing its tariffs across stamps and franking machines, and those changes have now come into effect. The price of stamps (first, second and large letters) have all increased by 1p, as have the franking machine rates across all classes and sizes.

This is a reminder to update your franking machine software, as any items sent using the old version will now be returned by Royal Mail and you will incur a surcharge.

Franking machine rates already offer businesses great cost savings compared to stamps, but businesses can save even more if they adopt Royal Mail Mailmark. Indeed, with the new tariffs now in effect, Mailmark users are provided with the following savings on top of the standard franking rates on every single item sent:

  • Royal Mail Mailmark First Class saves an extra 2p (3.7 percent)
  • Second Class saves 3p (7.5 percent)
  • First Class large letter saves 4p (4.8 percent)
  • Second Class large letter saves 3p (4.5 percent)
