Support the Royal British Legion by adding a Poppy to your franked mail

Why the Poppy Symbol:
In spring 1915, after losing a friend and fellow-serviceman in Ypres, Belgium, a Canadian doctor was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in the downtrodden fields where troops had fought. Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote a poem called In Flanders Fields to express how he felt as he looked upon the bright red flowers.
After the First World War, based on the strength of emotion from the poem, the poppy was adopted as a symbol of Remembrance and it inspired an American academic, Moina Michael, to make and sell red silk poppies which were brought to England by a French woman, Anna Guérin.
In the year of it’s creation (1921) the Royal British Legion sold nine million of these silk poppies on November 11. The funds collected were used to help World War One veterans with employment and housing and a new tradition started.
Now you too can contribute to the tradition by clicking HERE to access NeoSlogan to download your free slogan.
